First Aid at Work - Re-qualification

Description
This Health and Safety Executive approved course complies with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 for the re-qualification of First Aiders that currently hold a valid First Aid at Work qualification but is due for renewal.

Course Content
The course is an overview and refresher of all subjects taught on the full four-day First Aid at Work course. Any updates in techniques or legislation will also be imparted. The course will include the following subject areas:

  • Introduction to First Aid
  • Airway, Breathing and Circulation (ABC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Examination Techniques of the Conscious and Unconscious Casualty
  • Sprains, Strains and Fractures
  • Practical Bandaging and Casualty Handling
  • Hypothermia and Effects of Heat and Cold
  • Heart Attack, Angina and Stroke
  • Dealing with Nose Bleeds and Eye Injuries
  • Epilepsy and Seizures
  • Diabetes and Asthma
  • Dealing with Burns
  • Common Airway Problems and Choking
  • First Aid and the Workplace
  • Poisoning and Anaphylaxis

Target Group
Current holders of the HSE First Aid at Work certificate who wish to re-qualify before their certificate expires.

Benefits
On successful completion of the course and assessment, the participant will re-qualify as a First Aider for a further period of three years.

Duration and Delivery Mode
The course is two days with an assessment taking place on the afternoon of the last day of the course. A handbook is provided to support the course and participants will work individually and in groups.
